The fairest and easiest way to sell your car

When it’s time to sell your car, we believe we offer the fairest way of doing so. As a business built on Christian foundations, acting with integrity and helping others should shape all we do, and as such we are pleased to work a little bit differently in prioritising service over profit. Whereas others in the industry make their money by paying you less for your car, at Fair Price Car Seller, we make our money by getting you more. We have to work little harder, and we don’t earn as much, but it’s a far better way to work.

Instead of buying low to resell for maximum profit, we sell your car on your behalf at the same auctions as the national car buyers and part-exchanging car dealers do, but by cutting out the middleman, more money stays in your pocket. No lowball offers. No pressure. Just a fair price for your car and as much help as you want or need to secure that.

How it works

We charge a flat £125+VAT service fee, plus 25% commission on any additional amount we secure above industry price - so our interests stay aligned with yours: the more you get, the more we earn.

Our first step is to establish that third party industry price for your car - the figure that a national car buying company would offer, or what you might be offered by a car dealer.  This is basically your ‘elsewhere offer’ on which we will base our calculations.  Based on the information you give us, we’ll do this for you, and we’ll share how we did it so you can check for yourself if you’d like to.

Optional add-ons can often boost your car's value, and for extra convenience we can collect from home or work if you would like us to.  You choose how much you want to do yourself, but that can be as little as sending us a photo of the V5 and handing over the key on your doorstep!

Whatever level of service you choose, there's nothing to pay upfront, with all costs deducted from sale price.  We’ll send you a copy of the auction house receipt as well as a full breakdown of figures. It's a simple idea: act in your best interests, transparently, every time.  We trust that if we take good care of you, business will take care of itself.

Additional services - increasing value, adding convenience

Warranted mileage (£50):  A bit of a ‘no-brainer’.  Buyers bid with far greater confidence when we can warrant a vehicle's mileage. We do this by thoroughly checking service history, DVSA records and MOT history. If we can't find sufficient evidence, we make no charge — but where we can do so, warranting mileage helps achieve maximum value and often speeds up the sale. (Note: we make no charge for warranted mileage on vehicles that sell for under £500 at auction).

Value booster (£60): Up to 60 minutes spent improving the key areas that make the biggest difference to bidding: polishing out scratches, cleaning upholstery, bringing trim back to life, and checking oil and coolant levels.

Level checker (£20): Correct fluid levels are essential when your vehicle undergoes mechanical assessment prior to auction. If you don't need a value booster but don't want to check levels yourself, our staff will do it for you.

Easy option (£50): No time (or inclination!) to upload photos of your car and its service history? Just send us a photo of your V5 — via the button, WhatsApp or email — and we'll take care of everything else on handover of the vehicle.  It does make our initial valuation of your car less precise, but if that is OK with you, then it’s OK with us.

Collection (£100)*: Handover at 28 locations across England and Scotland is free, but collection from your home or workplace are possible if preferable. *Additional charges apply west of Plymouth and north of Dundee (£50), and north of Aberdeen (£100).

Assessing whether our service is right for you

We think we offer an excellent service which is suitable for a lot of people, but we’re completely transparent and always try to find the best solution for you; we fully accept that may not be us. Before asking us to sell your car, it is wise to consider what is most important to you.

Benefits of selling with us:

  • Value - we're focused on getting you real value for your car.
  • Confidence - you won’t get less (we set a reserve).
  • No upfront cost - all fees are taken from the final sale price.
  • Convenience - it can be entirely hands-off if you want it to be: as easy as handing over the keys on your own doorstep or workplace.
  • Doing some good - for every car sold we can donate £30 to help the homeless (please see below).

 Negatives of selling with us:

  • Price - If you're confident selling and have the time to spare, you might achieve a higher price (and keep all of it!) going it alone — and honestly, we'd encourage you to do so if that’s the case.
  • Time - Patience is needed: from handover to payment takes at least 10 working days, and longer if your car doesn't meet reserve right away.
  • Integrity - please see note below, but in short, if you want to hide faults from a buyer, then we are not for you.

Note: integrity - what we can do, and what we won't do

We will treat you fairly and with honesty, but those principles also extend to the buyers of cars we put into auction. We won’t hide faults; we will rectify them if you wish, or we will present your car at auction as it is. The trader who buys it will have budgeted for reasonable repairs, so your car by no means has to be perfect (far from it!), but we are not in the business of hiding issues, so please do not ask us to do so. We will advise you as to your best course of action, i.e. which repairs will ‘pay for themselves’ (and can address these for you economically if you wish) and which are best left for the purchaser to resolve, always prioritising your best interests, but not by compromising our integrity.

Leviticus 19:11.  Do not steal. Do not deceive or cheat one another.

Sowing seeds for God's Kingdom

God has placed the plight of the homeless in our hearts, so for every car sold, we give £30 to help. You choose where the money from your car goes: to Crisis, where it is enough to bring a rough-sleeper in off the streets this Christmas, or to the London City Mission's Webber St Day Centre for those suffering homelessness, where it funds 14 hot meals as the hope of the gospel is shared.

We're glad to say we don't do this alone. More than half our customers choose to match our donation from their own sale proceeds — in which case £60 goes toward those in our society who need it most.  Will you?

Matthew 25: I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me… ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’

We do our very best to take all of the worry out of selling your car and to prepare it to the highest (economical) standards to get you a really good deal.  Please click here to have a look at our reviews on Trustpilot to see for  yourselves what our customers have said about the service that we offer.
